Let’s start by admitting that humidity and my hair do not go well together. 😆 Now, if you’re looking for a fall outfit that’s actually rather casual but looks very put together and can take you to a variety of settings, look no further than the classic combo of a chambray/denim shirt and off-white corduroys. In the spring/summer, the bottoms would be white jeans but fall/winter I prefer changing it up to corduroys and off-white. Add some rich brown accessories (belt, shoes, bag), layer on the gold jewelry and throw on some oversized sunglasses and it gives me a 70’s casual chic vibe. Don’t forget the hair gel to tame the baby hairs like I did-I’ll link what I have at home but forgot to use!

These three pieces seem basic but the quality is unbelievable! This cotton cashmere blend dolman sleeve sweater (size XS) is the perfect transition piece for this not quite fall weather. The jeans are my new favorites. They are only $50, come in three washes, and two inseam lengths. I sized up one waist size (27) and went with the 26 inch inseam. The Italian suede loafers remind me of a designer pair I tried but they are very budget friendly. They molded to my feet right out of the box! I just can’t get over the quality AND the pricing on this outfit!

1. Love the look of a Julie Vos necklace but wanted to see how much I'd wear it before I bought one, so I found this under $20 option and I love it!

2. These classic ankle boots with a kitten heel have a higher shaft so they can work well with cropped pants too. Runs true to size.

What do we think? Tucked in or not? There’s no wrong answer with this under $15 find. It’s one of the softest shirts I’ve found, has a flattering neckline and comes in so many options. I bought two more in solid colors. You can wear it over leggings, with jeans, pants, as loungewear with joggers…the options are there! I’d say either way, Rowdy looks happy!

My husband and I were invited to dinner at Isidore’s, the newest restaurant at the Pullman Market at the Pearl. What we experienced was a feast for the eyes and the mouth. Every course was so visually exquisite, and of course they all tasted divine. Every detail was thought out-down to the cutlery, the fluting on the water pitchers, the music, the pacing of the courses. In my experience, when dining at a restaurant with this level of talent, the staff can be a little pretentious but we were warmly greeted from the moment we walked in the door and every single member of the team treated us like old friends, even calling out goodbyes from the kitchen when we left. If you’re in San Antonio, you need to experience this for yourselves!

The weather has finally turned and I can start wearing my fall/winter uniform: jeans and a top. This is a whole outfit of nothing new, just comfy faves to wear to the 9th Annual Texas Kosher BBQ contest held by my synagogue. Imagine spending an afternoon sampling all the barbecue brisket, chicken, and salmon you can eat, then voting on which one you think was the best. Not a bad way to pass a Sunday afternoon! Our son, Shane, is usually on a golf course or watching football on a Sunday afternoon but even he couldn’t pass this opportunity up!

Back to the outfit…I love this top so much I bought it in 5 colors. Runs true to size, it’s an easy alternative to a tee shirt. Same material, but a little more polished with the collar and half placket of buttons. The shoes are a more recent find and so comfortable. They’re a budget friendly version of Rothy’s that I found on Amazon and are also true to size.

I’m in my washable silk era! This silk puff sleeve top comes in so many colors, layers well under cardigans and blazers AND you can throw it in the washing machine! Runs TTS-wearing XS. These jeans are great for petite ladies. They’re meant to be cropped but on a 5’4” frame (or shorter) they’re the perfect length, and if you need to hem some more, just take a scissors to the raw hem. They run TTS as well-wearing a size 26. The shoes have been a favorite since the day I put them on my feet in late September. They also run TTS and possibly a top find for 2024.

When I’m feeling stressed, there’s nothing like getting out of the house and walking up and down the aisles of @Walmart. This isn’t sponsored, it’s just what I do. My husband and I made a date night out of it-first we hit our favorite Walmart store up in Spring Branch, looked at the new holiday releases, MAYBE ended up buying a *few* things, wandered over to the women’s section and added a few more things to the cart, grabbed dinner and watched some Netflix. I had to share some of the cute decor and gift ideas that I saw-I grabbed the glitter candle and matches as well as that roll of decorative burlap. Give me all the silver and black-so I can cheer on our San Antonio Spurs to a win over the Timberwolves! These three pieces happen to be from a holiday collection but they’re perfect for game nights too! Little details you might not see from the photos: the faux leather jacket has a ruffle peplum hem, the sequin shirt is a short sleeve tee and the jeans have the tiniest black crystals scattered throughout the fabric. I’m wearing the jacket and tee in an XS and the jeans in a 2 regular length. I wanted them in the short but they weren’t available so I just cuffed them-I may just cut the hem later! When your date night location includes live music and goats…you go casual! We’re still kind of in between seasons here, so I went with light knit layers-a sweater tank and a knit double zip cardigan that’s a mesh fabrication. We order our weekly groceries online from @walmart, but we were near Whole Foods and decided to run in and take a look around…two full grocery bags later we may have bought a “few” things. 😆 They definitely have quite a selection of ready to eat type meals that are great for an empty-nester couple who don’t necessarily want to cook every night!
