Love it or leave it? Styling tweaks can re-inspire your outfit this fall and help shop your closet first.

First look sweater is this extremely popular sweater by free people
Second look used the flare corduroy pants and a plaid blazer that’s on sale for 3 color rule. Great for work!
Last look is faux leather dress with red western boots that are under $50!

Second look, wearing

1) Sweater as a scarf- while many of have done this in a “I’m cold” emergency, wearing your sweater as a scarf is a trending styling tip we’ve seen this year on our favorite inspo boards.

2) 3 color rule🤎🤍🖤 2 color outfits are good, monochrome is great but playing around with 3 color combinations can unlock tons of outfits. Some thought starters are:
-burgundy, black, camel (as shown here)
-camel, navy, ivory
- forest green, blue, brown

3) wrong shoe theory👠🥾- if you remember when “sneakers with everything” became very popular circa 2018, then one can apply a similar styling approach with western boots, a big trend for fall 2024 (and always if you ask me). 😊

Disclaimers: this series was developed from a desire to be re-inspired with basics that many of us have and utilize fresh styling ideas and tools that are “new season”. I put the ❌ on the left to quickly illustrate the difference between the 2 approaches in a 10-15 second video, where I don’t have the luxury of time.

It’s not to say I don’t wear it the way on left or more importantly, that you shouldn’t. 80% of your outfit is confidence and the rest are details and ideas that I love sharing here after much research with love. 😊

$Love it or leave it? Polarizing doesn’t begin to cover these jeans’ history. Even I have repeatedly fallen in and out of love with this new denim shape! Comment BARREL to shop the jeans (available in several colors) and the looks! I’ve tried on loads of these and this particular brand fits like Joe’s Jeans for a fraction of the price! Barrel jeans do’s & don’ts: Do waist your tops! I like waisting my oversized tops and knits with an elastic band (also linked). This helps balance proportions and gives the eye somewhere to go. ⌛️ Do mind your shoes- some out there think chunky shoes look great with these jeans and IMO it looks clunky on my frame and the overall look I prefer; polished, classic. T-bar ballet flats and square or pointy toe boots or sling-backs look great with these jeans because they show a little skin and elongate the leg! 🥿 To me, chunky boots feel too heavy. 🥾 Do layer on a 3rd piece such as a Moto or blazer! Long cardigans compete with the silhouette of the jeans ultimately not “landing” anywhere because it all just looks big. 🥀 Don’t worry too much about getting it wrong! Update your look with styling tweaks! ❤️
1. Roll up corduroy blazer sleeves for a chic look that your arm candy/watch and bottom layer. These pants by sezane are favorite trousers that make me feel powerful and put together!

2. Button down tweak- modernize by untucking and unbuttoning to show off your necklaces and collarbone and it also helps balance some of the tighter trouser silhouettes that we’ve been seeing for fall along with very baggy too🤯 get a similar pair by j. Crew currently on sale!

1) Not mixing metals in jewelry! This is a super fun one because you can really get creative and layer.

2) Ugh! The super heavy sneakers 🙈Guilty👋 yikes. Funny story about the first day I got those horrible sneakers: I decided to wear them on an a long international flight and figured since they were sneakers they’d be comfortable, right? I almost missed my flight because I couldn’t walk fast in them, let alone run in them. I plopped all over the airport and limped onto the plane with a jeopardized ankle and blisters. My husband doesn’t let me forget it😬 I am in love with these sleek, vintage inspired ones! Guess what? I can walk in them🫠

3 is an easy fix! You can loop strap around your cross body bag inside the flap and turn into a shoulder or handle bag!

Don’t RUIN your slip skirt outfit! Slip skirts are sleek and chic timeless wardrobe staples but tucking tops can be tricky!
Here’s how to fix:
1) elastic- this is like the belt/knit fashion hack in winter but with lightweight shorts an elastic does the trick! You can order one from amazon, comment LINK to shop that and these looks.

These 2 stylings can also be a classic vs edgy styling!

1) classic- the summer’s it piece: the vest, simple sandals, and gold accessories. The vest gives it a little gravity and drop waist silhouette that is trending.

2) edgy aka fall- add your kids’ destination tee, and moto with western boots for a not your 5 year old’s ruffle skirt look. The unexpected combo of ruffles and moto jacket will balance the aesthetics!

And how to easily FIX! ⚖️

Summer styling should be easy but if you find yourself uninspired or not liking your outfits, here’s easy solutions!

1) proportion- it’s so easy to do but even easier to forget! Big top, small bottom and vice versa🖤 more comfortable and looks more “stylish”
and flattering.

2) not styling- there’s no 3rd layer like a cardigan or blazer when we are hot so add light scarves, jewelry (silver having a moment), sunglasses and statement bags!

3) shoes as an afterthought- it happens to the best of us. We find that pair of shoes that is comfortable and cute but then we start wearing it with all of our outfits as well as the bag that already has everything we need! 🤯 little effort can go a long way!

And how to fix! Jeans can either be your best friend or your worst, looking for little details that can make or break your look is key! 👩‍🔧

1) Whiskering- this happens with older jeans often but it also happens with budget jeans more often than not. It can accentuate the hip flexors area and make you look wide and scrunchy.🐱

2) Too Big- overall baggy pants looks frumpy if they’re loose all over including your waist. For the right oversized look, make sure they fit your waist well. Might take tailoring or the magical pair! ✅

3) Too tight- tight all the way through can make you look uncomfortable even if you’re not! If you’re gonna wear a tight pair, try to wear an oversized top for balance! ⚖️
