Are you prepared to grab and go in the event of an emergency or natural disaster? According to a 2023 FEMA survey, half of Americans are not. Some have assembled disaster supplies (48%) or made a plan (37%), but the least common actions were planning with neighbors and getting involved in their community. As a garage expert who has worked in hundreds of Northern California garages / homes, I can tell you at least 70% of the garages we’ve worked in DO NOT have an emergency supply section. Or if so, it’s minimal at best. Moving forward, this is a topic I will be recommending to our families. The So Cal wildfires and other recent natural disasters serve as a reminder that one of our most important tasks this new year is ensuring your most important documents, memories and items are ready to go. In an instant. And that you’re prepared with food, water, first-aid and other necessities. Being prepared does not take a lot of time or effort...but IT DOES require your attention to get there.
