Did my Glamour Shots pic get your attention?😆 This is the outfit I wore to the YouTube Shopping Holiday House event in Los Angeles last week. I have learned now that it’s better to dress “smart casual” for these things so I can still look stylish but stay comfortable-this was almost a 12 hour day! This might not jump out at you as a fall outfit idea, but it works so well as a base layer under all sorts of cardigans, blazers and jackets, and it’s ideal for long travel days too. In these photos I was actually heading out to get my hair done, and since it takes a couple of hours I brought my laptop with to get some work done. This backpack has a nicely padded section that fits my 16” laptop perfectly (and it’s also great for travel). Wearing the set in a size small and I sized up a ½ size in the mesh flats.

1. Collared Lounge Set-very much inspired by Spanx AirEssentials but pants have pockets and the size and color options are spectacular (plus the cost is way better).

2. I’m in a more glowy finish phase for my complexion-this is a perfect compromise and can be made more glowy with highlighters or toned down with powder. My shade is Fair-Light.

3. Have this blazer/pea coat in Navy Small and love it so much I ordered it in this Khaki shade in an XS. If you want an oversized fit, size up one.

4. Been wearing my hair wavy again and this curling iron is my favorite-I bought it three different barrel sizes!

5. Even stuffed to 48 pounds, I could wheel this large hard sided suitcase with two fingers through the airport!

I wore this pant set last week to the @Amazon Creator Summit for a “business casual” look. I added the adjustable belt for some extra definition at the waist but it’s totally not necessary. The shoes…oh these shoes! They’re SO comfortable. I want to grab another pair but I can’t settle on a color-there are so many! They run true to size. The handbag is another designer inspired piece that I’ve been carrying without the strap but added it for the conference so I could be hands free. I love tying together the colors of my belt, bag and shoes for a more polished look.

I love this new trend with bows tying the blouse shut, but the ones I’ve seen previously all had at least some skin showing in between the bows. Not this one! There are snaps in between each bow so you can get the look, without giving someone a look! 😉 It comes in lots of colors and is a lightweight material so it’s a great piece for those that are in a warmer climate. I wore this outfit for the second day of the Amazon Creator Summit and then to dinner after. Comfy and casual but still felt put together. Plus my new shoes were so comfy-I’m definitely picking up another pair! They run true to size.

It’s funny how timing works. Yesterday I attended the funeral of my best friend’s mother. It was truly a celebration of a life well lived, but of course we are also grieving. I checked my phone when I got home to see I had received two DM’s asking for advice on what to wear to a funeral-isn’t that an odd coincidence?

Here’s the thing-it’s not a fashion show, but you do want to show respect-for the dead, for the mourners. Every culture has different customs, but for the most part, wearing darker, somber colors, no denim, nothing casual, is a safe bet. Pants instead of jeans or joggers, a basic dress that’s suitable for the weather if it’s a graveside ceremony, are what I choose. Something to keep in mind are your shoes, particularly if you’re going to the cemetery. This is not the time for stilettos-they’ll sink into the grass, and the ground is uneven as well. I went with this black shirt dress that does have some pretty detail on the hemline, with pockets that are perfect for holding tissues, and low, block heeled shoes for walking through the grass.

At the end of the day, it’s your presence that is meaningful, not your outfit, but I also understand the stress of not wanting to stand out or cause offense by wearing the “wrong thing”. Sadly, if we live long enough, we’re going to have to attend a funeral, so hopefully this little outfit pic will help someone during an already stressful time. May the memory of your loved one be a blessing and a comfort to you.

This affordable jumpsuit (under $40) is a great wear now, wear later piece and the comfort level is a 10/10! I wore it a couple weeks ago to run errands (and get a pedicure) and I can wear it later by just throwing a cardigan or jacket over it. I love the drawstring waist and pockets, and the price is fantastic. You can even dress it up with accessories, heels and a blazer. I’ve been reaching for this tote bag again-I love the richer brown color, although it comes in lots of options. The magnetic closure makes it feel a little more secure too. Speaking of pedicures, do you do seasonal color or do you stick with one classic color all year? I’ve been going for a classic red like Big Apple Red lately but now I’m feeling like a rich burgundy for fall.
