Here’s your reminder that home takes time.

We moved into our house nearly four years ago and I’m finally at a point where my bedroom finally feels completely furnished. One thing I’m learning about decorating is sometimes it’s better to take your time and be intentional rather than to fill a space. I find that in times where I’ve rushed and bought things, I’ve been disappointed in the long run.

Anyway, here is my bedroom decorated for fall! I absolutely love fall in my bedroom against the green walls with the deeper colors.

I think I may just have a thing for @amberinteriors because I’m noticing I pick her collections with @loloirugs almost every time. 🥰 my bedroom just got a new rug thanks to loloi. When we were building and I mentioned putting marble in our shower, I got a lot of comments from people saying I should rethink my decision. People said it was a lot of maintenance, it would stain and never look the same.

Did that stop me? Nope and I would do it again.

Here are some things you should know if you’re considering marble. You will need to reseal it once or twice a year. I clean mine with a marble cleaner, but you can use a neutral ph soap. There are products you can use for etching, but I honestly haven’t used any so I can’t speak to how well they work.

You don’t need all new furniture, or to knock walls down. Sometimes all you need is to move around the furniture.

I was starting to feel bored in my living room. My immediate question to Matt was “how hard would it be to take this shiplap on the fireplace down” he looked at me like I was crazy and said “Kristina, no.” 🤣 I thought I needed a big change, but I really just needed to change the layout to get a different view and to make things feel fresh again.

When I designed this nursery, I really wanted a vintage modern feel that would feel timeless and I am still so happy with how it turned out.

I diyed a lot in this space. This is probably one of the largest projects I’ve done by myself with a little help with painting + wallpaper from my mom. I added trim to the dresser + painted it, I rub + buffed the mirror, as well as the curtain rod and I put up picture frame moulding.

Shelf styling rules I almost always follow ⬇️

1. Repeat in diagonals: this applies to a lot of different items like picture frames, finishes like gold or brass, books, and even plants/stems. I tend to repeat, but I don’t love when those items are stacked directly on top of each other so I try to put these items in diagonals. I find that this creates interest and keeps things looking balanced.

2. Layer: I tend to do this the most with my art. Instead of just having a picture frame in a shelf by itself. Layer it with a book stack and a plant, or find a smaller framer that fits in front of it. You can even put it on a easel like I did if the frame is on the smaller side.

Add greenery: it doesn’t matter what season it is, I almost always have some sort of greenery in my shelves. I find that it adds texture and life (regardless of whether it is actually alive or not)

And last but not least, less is more. You don’t want your shelves to feel cluttered, so make sure to leave some white space.

Fall decorating doesn’t need to be complicated. For me, fall decorating is adding some fall stems, replacing some of my art with fall landscapes and adding a few pumpkins here and there but I don’t go too crazy with it. As much as I love all the little pumpkins and the different fall tchotchkes, I crave simplicity most of the time. (With the exception of my front porch)

When I first bought this welcome sign, I tried to hang it up with command strips and it worked for all of five minutes. 🤣 I did some research and found these vinyl siding hooks and they are awesome! They clip in pretty easy and when you’re ready to remove them, you can take them out without any damage. I’ve used these to hang my garland around my door last year too!

here are my all time favorite Amazon home kitchen finds.

touchless soap dispenser- this is great for handling food. It also makes it easy for my two kiddos to use when they need to wash up after dinner, which is an added bonus.
knife drawer organizer- we had a knife block on the counter for years and it constantly collected dust and felt like a bit of a safety hazard having two littles running around.
turntable organizer- this is great for oils and vinegars, but you could also use it in the fridge for condiments!
drawer dividers- these are great to separate out your different utensils. I felt like this drawer always looked a mess without it.
air tight containers- these are so nice! I’ve got one for flour and one for powdered sugar, but I’d love to have the entire set. I love the built in level for easy measuring.
spice jars + labels- I won’t lie, I bought these entirely for aesthetic purposes but I love them!
