This room actually turned out pretty darn GREAT after much tweaking (and a big shout out to my favorite rug from our RugsUSA collection – the Merrick). It’s calm, cozy, high functional, and objectively well designed – it just turned out different than I had intended, although TBH I didn’t have a clear direction (thus the problem). It’s easy to keep neat/tidy (mostly thanks to the large closet down the hall – bless that closet) and on Sunday mornings I let the kids watch TV while I throw on the fire, read my romance novels, and feel so grateful that I have this beautiful, inviting, and cozy bedroom. And listen, the challenges were all self-imposed because this room is basically a new build so I also got to learn a lot. Win/win (kinda).

Here she is! I think our powder room turned out so sweet, fun, with some unexpected moments. Definitely not too simple, but full of character – probably how a powder bath should be. (Shout out to Rejuvenation for their articulating light and all the switches. I love how the sconce comes out from the side, slightly unexpectantly and creates such a fun vignette over the sink. It brings a little bit of polish and finish that balances out all the vintage in here!)

Another angle of our one month bedroom makeover for our photographer, Kaitlin. We mixed pieces she already had (like the walnut dresser from West Elm) with a few new pieces from Bed Bath & Beyond (can you believe the price on that wicker lamp?!). Sprinkle in some new bedding from Brooklinen and voila - a comfy, cozy, warm room that’s ready for the cooler months :)

This one is nice and roomy in the pits (just how I like them) so that it can be thrown over and layer well. It’s my new favorite. It has multiple pockets that close (stop it with the side pockets where things fall out easily) and a little gather to break up the boxiness. Here I’m modeling last year’s Madewell shorts (these are oversized and I roll them up) with some cute 70s-inspired Bombas and my new strangely flattering New Balances (the shape of the shoe when you look down is legit very cute).

It’s official: I dove into the flared leg trend. I tried on like 14 pairs of these y’all and these are hands down the best. So cute, fun, and very flattering IMHO (the proportions of the flare make other parts of your body look more balanced if you are into that).

The blue shirt I’ve had forever from Lululemon (I love the finger holes). The vest is super cute (I love the shoulders coming out farther than my arms) and has big old pockets with zippers for doggy bags and my phone.

Lately, I’m very much gravitating towards sets (and I’m not alone). This quarter-zip is in a really pretty raspberry colorway, with matching sweats – making me feel pulled together (a great airport outfit).

This bag is EXCELLENT. It’s VERY cute and surprisingly spacious but it’s also so good for making sure that your delicate fruits and veggies don’t get smooshed in a huge bag (each veggie gets a compartment). It’d be the perfect gift for anyone who grocery shops (so kind of everyone, I guess?), for city dwellers, or for the farmers market fanatic in your life :)

Our mantel is ready to go for Christmas 2023!

This was our easy holiday mantel from last year. The wreath was real (look at me!) and I kinda wanted to replace the garland with a real one, but not enough to actually do it. We’ve had the green Santa box for years and the kids drop letters in it frequently (I think it’s probably the last year and we totally forgot to do Elf on the Shelf which they are asking for so I need to run out and find that dude). ANYWAY - if you’re in the market for an affordable Christmas vignette, these are a few of my favorite pieces: simple wooden garland, a bit of greenery, some nice candles, a row of stockings, and a little bit of whimsy (the flocked deer come in grey this year - it’s a little more grown up than this blue version, but I love both!).
