Here are styling issues I avoid when I’m wearing boots: 1. Too trendy: an outfit that fully embodies a big trend ends up looking costume-y. Change one piece. 2. Right heel height: wide jeans/pants should hit the top of the foot 3. Too many contrasts: juxtaposing two strong colors ideally occurs once per look or too many times to count, as in a black/white polka dot print – unless you’re definitively doing FASHION all in. 4. Too formulaic: matching the top to the boot can look too matchy matchy, especially with highly contrasting colors. Soften it with another layer. 5. Awkward shin gap: a midi skirt with ankle boots can create an awkward gap. A knee boot gives an ethereal outfit gravitas and also creates a cleaner line.t LOOK 1 Skinny jeans: J Brand OOS Striped sweater: Club Monaco OOS Yak wool turtleneck: Quince, size S Sailor jeans: Frame Le Slim Palazzo, size 26 LOOK 2 Red mini: Zara OOS Black polo cardigan: Uniqlo, size S Grey cardigan: Zara OOS LOOK 3 White button down: Banana Republic, size S Skirt: my mom’s BOOTS Brown knee boots with 2” heels, Celine Brown flat boots, Manolo Blahnik Black boots with 2” heels, Gucci ** please see my separate post with boot recommendations ** My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes.
