What’s underneath your snow pants and jacket matters almost as much if not more than the outerwear for skiing, riding and playing in the snow in winter temps. Took me a few years to find the base layers I love the most. Kari Traa makes comfortable, super warm, wool base layers that fit the hips, butt, and thighs of my pear shape even in their straight sizes. I’m usually a plus size 16w or 1X in regular pants but sometimes an XL so it’s an unexpected surprise that they fit nicer than most other brands. Soft, not itchy. They wear well and wash well. I love that they have a higher rise option and capri length which is better for a good fit with your ski boot since nothing should go in your boot except your sock. I also love a wool sock for outside time in cold temps. Started with darn tough socks a couple of year ago. I’m squealing with delight at having discovered that smart wool makes an extra stretch wide calf version of ski socks! Thick calf girls rejoice! No more cutting off my circulation. Add my favorite, soft as sneakers and super warm snow boots and I’m ready to hit the road to head up to the mountain.
