I did the research so you don’t have to! When it comes to a dental routine, the amount of research is tedious because there are so many products we are introducing directly to out mouths. Our mouths are literal sponges, and to me this means paying extra care as to what products I’m using! Keep these tips in mind when choosing dental products for yourself and check out my full list of products that meet these criteria! I avoid: - Fluoride: going with a fluoride or non fluoride toothpaste is a personal decision and one each person should do their own research on. I personally opt to avoid it, however, I think it can be used safely and can have benefits that outweigh the risks for certain folks more prone to cavities. - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): used as a foaming agent in almost all conventional dental products, and extremely irritating if you are prone to dry mouth, canker sores, etc. - Triclosan: used to tackle gingivitis but is a known pesticide and hormone disruptor - Titanium dioxide - Artificial Colors - Parabens: used as a preservative - Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) - PFA/PTFA (when it comes to floss this is the number one thing to look for) I look for things like: -Coconut Oil -Xylitol -Charcoal is found in a lot of natural dental products but for me it is just too much of a staining risk for me to use -Essential oils -Hydroxyapatite (learning about this literally changed my whole routine!) -silk (used for floss vs. nylon) -natural waxes such as beeswax and cadelilla wax (used on floss instead of PFA) If this sounds overwhelming, don’t worry, all the products in this list meet these req 🦷🫶🏼 LTKbeauty LTKfamily LTKhome
