One great way to reduce the potential for mold in your home is to use drying stones. Drying stones aren’t actually stones, but they feel like them! They are made out of diatomaceous earth which is the fossilized remains of algae. When it is solidified and made into products like bath mats, plant saucers, dish drying mats, sink caddies, etc. it naturally adsorbs the water and allows it to evaporate without producing mold. We have the XL mat for our cat and dog dishes and it has worked like a charm! It dries in about 10 minutes and looks much sleeker than our old constantly soaked mats.
