Caramel apple tips- what I learned:
1. Cosmic Crisp apples are best
2. Save time use caramel bits (one bag/4 apples)
3. Add a little water to bits and melt in microwave. Heat a little at a time; stir, repeat or caramel will burn. Stir. Stir. Stir. And allow caramel to sit for a few hours before adhering to apples. (Cover caramel and it will keep for a long time. It’s just sugar and water).
4. Use dowel rods for sticks because they are sturdier. You need to whittle end you are stabbing through apple.
5. Spray wax paper with Pam (but don’t get on apples or caramel won’t stick).
6. Use spatulas to cover apples completely with caramel and place on waxed paper. The type of spatula matters. You don’t want a flimsy one.
7. Put dowel rod through each apple. Push gently or you will stab through entire apple and you don’t want that.
8. Decorate with toppings of choice.
9. You can find cute cellophane bags at Dollar stores but make sure they open fully to hold an apple.
10. Cute straws and ribbon to decorate 🎀
