Dr. Kim’s Play Tool of the Week! Kids don’t often want to “talk” about their emotions. In fact, most children shut down in lecture-based and discussion commanding environments. As a play therapist, it’s my job to connect with children using a non-threatening language they understand and respond to using a variety of toys! And one of my favorite games to play with children to label and discuss emotions is “Flip Flop Faces Bean Bag Toss” by @Discovery This game not only sparks conversation about big feelings, it also teaches children facial expressions and color/word recognition, helps develop motor skills and coordination, and encourages cooperative play, math skills, and social awareness. I even play it at home with my children! They think it’s fun and it opens the door to briefly talk about anything feelings-based they want to bring up with me! LTKKids LTKFamily
