We just hosted my mom’s big birthday bash in our backyard all thanks to @BedBathandBeyond ! We were able to light up the back with string lights and stands from them and added coziness with the outdoor rugs and fire pit. The cherry on top were the raised planters and potting bench though!
I initially only bought two raised planters but liked them so much I bought a third one for our herbs! And can I just say this potting bench from Bed Bath and Beyond is so useful. Did you catch me converting it from a gardening potting bench to a drink bar? It holds wine glasses and all your serving necessities. I even used the recessed portion of the table to hold ice and to keep drinks cool!

We could have unalived our guests! I didn’t know how bad the state of our doors were until we took them out. Half the structure was missing due to rotting wood and carpenter ants.

Since we had to replace them, I figured this was my sign to give our porch a makeover.

I’m not sure which part is my favourite, the wall basket as a wreath alternative or our lanterns holding plants instead of candles!

Why is it so hard to stay organized?

You’re probably thinking, there’s never enough space and you don’t know where anything is.

Here are 3 ways to stay organized.

Invest in a shelving system with clear storage bins. Now you can see everything you own and you’ll be able to grab things without digging around.

Make use of vertical space with monkey hooks or command grippers. You can hang items on your wall without using a hammer. This will keep things off the floors and prevent things from falling over.

Capitalize on unused space such as behind the door. Keep items you reach for regularly here for easy access. No more hunting around for those small items!

The laundry room is organized and it looks so satisfying! I love the Home Edit line especially for their divided drawers. They’re perfect for cupboards and they stack perfectly!

I love this simple dress. I wore it as a wedding guest, and it’s the perfect attire It’s so incredibly flattering with the cross cross back. And the neckline gives a little bit of a cowl effect. The slit on the side is also a very nice touch. It’s actually a lovely midnight blue.

I’m wearing a size 4 and it’s true to size.

I paired it with a French twist and some strappy sandals from Steve Madden that goes with all my evening wear.

That Dawn Powerwash & @scrubdaddy combo is 👌🏼. The Powerwash spray is so satisfying to use. It’s a dish soap that suds up and you can buy refills. Big fan of the Scrub Mommy. Doesn’t scratch but tough on one side and gentle on the other.

I saw @_catben_ mop with an @ocedarclean mop, so I mop with an OCedar mop now.

But for real, this mop is a game changer. No more mopping with dirty water with this drainage system 🤯.

My only feedback is that they should make it with a clear bucket so we can see how filthy the water gets. 😌

Host a crafternoon with me

I’m hosting the crafting party of my childhood dreams! We’re making cellphone compacts.

I picked up these lip gloss phone cases at Clair’s and had the most fun picking out the accessories to bedazzle our phone compacts.

I set the table and Snacks were my number one priority. I picked all my childhood favs and served all my food in cups! Made it so much easier.

Next, I sprinkled all the supplies and make up products that we’re going to depot into our cellphones.

When everyone arrived we dove right in. We scraped out the make up and depot our own in.

The best part of was bedazzling our phone cases.

They turned out so stinking cute. And we had so much fun together.

And every kid knows the best part of the party is the loot bags! So I packed up a bunch of treats for the girls to take home.

And we had the best crafter noon together!!! I love it so much!!! I can’t wait to hang this on my purse!!! What should we craft next?!

I was about to go out to do some gardening and was slapping on sunscreen when I thought I’d share this quick unstick protection bar with you. You can have a full face of make up and apply this over and your make up stays intact. It’s got great reviews and it’s on sale right now!

You’re suppose to reapply sunscreen through the day, and if you’re like me, you don’t because you don’t want to mess up your make up. This is going to solve that problem for you!

I’ve been experimenting with make up a lot more recently. I think it’s hitting my late 30s and I got stuck doing the same thing over and over. It’s been so fun!

This week I picked up this eyeshadow pallete and the shimmers and glitters are so much fun! The tech has really changed in make up since I remember.

I hacked our bed to turn it into the canopy bed I’ve been dreaming about. It’s completely transformed the vibe of our bedroom and the best part is, I can change it up so easily!

I had a few people suggest changing out the curtains to something lighter so I thought I’d give it a try. What do you think?

I wanted a canopy bed but my low ceilings said no. So I hopped onto @wayfaircanada during their Black Friday in July sale and found these cool curtain rods that pivot. It got me thinking- I could make an illusion of a canopy bed with curtain rods and some curtains!

Of course when you give a mouse a cookie, you know what happens. So of course I had to replace our broken lamps with these burgundy pleated sconces. And while I was at it, I also upgraded our nightstands to these walnut stained ones with ample storage.

This bedroom makeover turned out so good and I did it all on a budget during Wayfair’s Black Friday in July sale that’s happening from now till July 28th!

There's nothing more cozy than putting on a comfort show and making a classic bowl of tomato soup and a cheesy toastie.

Here's my recipe for tomato soup:
Add 6 cups chopped tomatoes to a baking sheet (I like mixing up cherry tomatoes in the mix)
Add a bulb of garlic, a large onion, chopped red pepper as well
Toss in oil, salt and pepper to taste
Bake for 35 minutes
Put everything in a pot and add 4 cups of chicken broth
Add paprika. sugar to taste and red chilil flakes for a kick
Bring to boil and turn off heat
Carefully use an immersion blender or let it cool and blend in a blender
Top with some heavy cream and garnish with basil

Best served with a toasted cheese sandwich!

Them: That terracotta pumpkin will be $125.
Me: Where’s my paint brush?

This DIY is easy but messy. I highly recommend laying down some parchment paper before you get started.

To keep costs low, try thrifting and collecting pumpkins first. Or up-cycle some pumpkins you have already. We’re going to give it that terracotta finish.

Mixing your paint with baking soda will give it texture and help the paint adhere to your pumpkin without any sanding. I did my base layer with black and then added some brown for a more dimensional look.

I’ve seen a lot of people sprinkle on the baking soda and rub it in or paint it on but I find that making it a paste with food coloring to create that light brown helps it make a bit more realistic. (I couldn’t find the DIYer who inspired this step, if you know please share so I can tag them!) then I sprinkled on the baking soda and stippled it in.

I’m basically layering on different colours and layers for more dimension. I find it looks best this way!

I sealed it with some clear gloss so it could withstand weather and to keep the pumpkin from chipping when in storage.

Grab some Pillsbury sugar cookie in the pumpkin 🎃 or any fun shape and some ready to bake cookie dough for minimum effort.

Stack the sugar cookie on top of your chocolate chip dough and bake according to the instructions. It’s literally that easy!

I love that this sort of resembles a bouquet without flowers. It’s a bouquet of memories and future memories we can create together!

My mom actually requested no flowers and asked for cash in lieu of us purchasing blooms 😅 and if a gift card sounds too impersonal, attach a note with some fun activities you can do together based on the gift card. It could be a spa date together, a home improvement project that you can help her with or better yet, a gift card related to their interest that they can do with you!

After all, moms just want to spend time with their kids.
