I DIY’D A MODULAR BAR FOR OUR WEDDING!! Am I insane? …Yes. 😂 But didn’t it come out SO COOL!? And I saved thousands of dollars. A WIN WIN! HARTPartner Comment LIST if you want the full list of supplies + tools I used! ✨👇🏼
When I was quoted over $5,000 to rent a similar quote for a similar sized bar for our Camp Themed Wedding, I almost threw up. It was in that moment I decided to DIY it. I knew I could easily do it with all my @HARTToolsUSA , some wood and a vision. ❤️
I spent weeks trying to find a build plan for this online but couldn’t find anything even close to what I was visioning. I decided to wing it. I knew the base needed to be 3 parts so we could transport it in a trailer. With our tent size, I knew I wanted something about 130” long, with the average bar height of 42” and depth of 19”. I was also set on rounded edges which was totally unnecessary and make things extremely complicated, but I figured it out!
+ I decided to go with 1x4’s instead of 2x4’s because it SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the weight which was necessary.
+ I used all HARTToolsUSA (available at Walmart!!!!). I used the same battery for every tool which was actually so magical and made everything so much easier. I used their 10” Miter Saw, 20V Brad Nailer, 20V Drill/Driver, 20V Random Orbital Sander, 20V Circular Saw, 20V Jig Saw
+ I couldn’t figure out how to kerf the wood for a rounded edge, so I decided to “manually” kerf by cutting little pieces of 1x2 select pine, gluing it together with a mesh backing I had sitting around. I then covered it with walnut veneer I had extra of.
+ for the slats, the most cost effective thing to do was to buy bamboo slats that is typically used in outdoor tiki huts. It worked GREAT!
+ I was sure to add latches so it can all securely snap together as well as finishing touches like a bottle opener!
Now tell me what you think?!?! I’m so relieved it’s over and now I just have to paint it… and move it over 1,200 to our destination wedding. Now HELP ME!! WHAT COLOR DO I PAINT IT!? 🏕️ 👰🏼♀️ 💍
