Relaxing on the screen porch of my dreams I’m such a country girl at heart and love being outside, but the North Carolina heat can be brutal! Initially there was only a 10x12 deck with dark stain which baked in the afternoon heat and was barely useable. Catch my latest IGTV post (located right next to this post😉) to see the transformation! We built out the initial 10x12 and extended the decking another 10 feet! The way the house angles in from there we were able to bring it to 15feet wide from that point, giving us plenty of room for an outdoor dining table and room to maneuver the door leading to the back yard. Now we have a dedicated “living area” and “dining area”. We used reclaimed barn wood and added 2 faux support beams which I wrapped in fairy lights! I feel like we took a class from chip and Joanna gains or something!
