I combined two of my all-time favorite soups, French onion, and cheese steak and created this mouthwatering comforting bowl of goodness. My husband actually said this is the best soup I’ve made yet! I hope you give it a try! -2 lbs of steak cubed -1/4 cup flour -1/2 Tablespoon olive oil -2 Tablespoons butter -6 yellow sweet onions -4 cloves of Garlic minced -1/2 cup apple juice -1 teaspoon white wine vinegar -1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce -1/2 teaspoon dried Thyme or 3 springs of fresh -Salt & pepper to taste -onion and garlic powder (optional) -1/4 cup half and half -4 cups of water & 2 Tablespoons of better than beef bouillon -3 ounces unexpected cheddar cheese (or any aged sharp cheddar) -2 ounces Gruyère cheese -1 ounce Parmesan cheese -extra cheese for garnish -ciabatta bread 1.Cube steak and pat dry; season with salt, pepper, and flour. 2.Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. 3.Sear steak for about 2 minutes per side(it won’t be fully cooked at this point) and add additional seasonings like garlic powder and onion powder; remove from pan. 4.Reduce heat, add onions and butter; caramelize for 20 minutes on medium-low heat, adjusting heat if necessary. 5.Add minced garlic, apple juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme; caramelize for another minute. 6.Return steak to the pan, add beef broth, bring to a boil, then lower back down to a simmer. 7.Stir in half-and-half, gradually add cheese until melted, setting some aside for topping. 8.Taste for salt, adjust if necessary. 9.Serve soup in oven safe bowls, top with toasted bread, and a handful of grated cheddar. 10.Put it in the air fryer for about 10 minutes at 450°F or until cheese is bubbly 12.Enjoy your delicious soup!
