I don’t remember any Christmas present my grandparents ever gave me… …but I remember them taking a trip with us to Walt Disney World in 1977…when park admission was a mere $14. 😳 - I remember riding Peter Pan and A Small World with them. - I remember standing underneath Cinderella’s castle and twirling in circles while they laughed. - I remember swimming in the old Howard Johnson swimming pool while they watched and encouraged us from the side. I hope our grandchildren remember that one year they went to Florida with Grandpa and Gigi for Christmas. - I hope they remember shivering in the Elf ice sculpture show and sliding on the ice slides until their fingers tingled. - I hope they remember that we spent everyday in the water park and water slides and lazy river whether it was raining or sunny. - I hope O and L remember giving surfing a try for the first time on the FlowRider surf simulator. - I hope they remember the atrium light show every night that never got old or tiresome. - I hope they remember throwing snowballs and going sledding indoors without having to wear coats, hats, gloves, and mittens. - And I hope they remember the chaos that ended every night with the wrestling matches in the floor amongst cousins that devolved into tickling fests with someone inevitably getting thumped in the head or kicked in the stomach. I hope they NEVER know I cried every night and every morning with tears of joy,…but I hope they feel all the love Grandpa and Gigi have for them. Let’s do this again before you kids get any bigger.
