“Be the change you wish to see in the world” 💙 The real irony of this photo is the fact that I snapped it yesterday morning with the intention of posting it later in the day after Georgia officially went blue (again)… Then everything went to shit in D.C.🙃 Yesterday was a heavy, scary day. We & the world watched as our nation’s Capitol was stormed & attacked by domestic terrorists (not protestors, terrorists). It was terrifying & upsetting to watch. The blatant displays of white privilege and continuing to hear the repeated, baseless lies coming out of our current president was absolutely disgusting to witness. That being said, I wish that I could say I was truly surprised by yesterday’s events. I know that may sound jaded (maybe I am a bit), but after the last four years, the idea of being “surprised” by anything related to this administration would mean that I haven’t been paying attention. Although I’m well aware that having a new president & vice president sworn in on January 20th won’t immediately change things, it still gives me hope. There’s so so so much work ahead of us and this morning’s formal certification of the election of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is another important step in the right direction.
