Brooksie’s nursery: our new favorite place in the house. The light in here is magical and there is a constant background of our favorite music. While he’s still sleeping in his bassinet in our room at night, we love doing all our feedings and changes and reading in here with him!

The absolute most treasured piece in this room is the hand-stitched “Brooks” framed above the dresser. Nearly one year ago, Will and I lost a friend of ours to cancer — a truly exceptional, one in a million person with the sharpest wit and irreverent humor, prodigious appreciation of music and literature, and completely inspirational level of empathy and inclusiveness. He was the kind of person who always showed up, who always made you laugh until you cried, couldn’t help but march to the beat of his own drum in a way that made you want to be truer to your own self, and loved his family and friends without bounds. His name was Brooks, and that frame of his name was made by his mom and hung in his own nursery. She so generously shared it with us and it reminds me every time I change our son or feed him or read him a story of the type of person we hope to raise our own Brooks to be.

I shared that this whole journey into parenthood was a surprise — I found out I was pregnant just a couple months after our friend Brooks’ funeral. What kept me from feeling overwhelmed was thinking maybe we could raise someone like our friend Brooks. May we rise up to the challenge of having him embody even slivers of what our friend with the same name did 💜

I recently stocked up on some beautiful home accessories that make holiday hosting feel all the more effortless, including a few glowy vases and this handsome burl wood serving tray. I know I’ll easily grab for these to pepper floral arrangements, candles, and cocktails about throughout the season and they do a lot to elevate the moment!

Cafe curtains were the perfect solution to giving us some privacy in our bathroom while still letting in a lot of natural light.

I used some beautiful remnant ticking stripe linen fabric and sewed the shades myself, but the cafe rods and clip are really what elevates this moment.

Tagging sources for you! I was a little nervous about the cafe curtain width at first but there is a 1/4”-1/2” wiggle room with how it attaches to the interior sides that ended up being perfect. Highly recommend!

I went with a polished nickel finish for both the rod and the ring clips.

At 36 weeks pregnant, I’m grateful for the small handful of maternity items I grabbed to get me through this final phase…where nothing else in the world will fit 😂

I love a good closet moment - so I knew I wanted to make our nursery closet a sweet little pocket of fun.

I painted the doors and shelves Farrow & Ball’s “Eddy” (matched to Benjamin Moore) wallpapered the walls with a pattern that was a steal from Wayfair, and used felt baskets from Target to corral extra diapers and wipes that can be repurposed to house toys and other bits as our bebe boy grows :)

The little lamp on the shelf is a rechargeable touch light, perfect for illuminating the space for more ambiance while practical ally acting as a bit of a nightlight when you don’t want a bright light waking baby.

I’m still waiting on the door hardware to arrive as well as a rolling basket with partitions from Pottery Barn that we’ll use for toys to easily organize and stow away as needed!

I love this little closet so much I just leave the doors propped open now all the time :)

I have truly lived in this sweater nonstop since getting it. Comes in so many great colors, has the perfect cropped length and the neckline is just enough to show some skin while not having to worry I’m going to flash anybody (and yes yes yes safe to go bra-less!). The sleeve cuffs also add a nice polished look - I know I’m going to need more colors. HOT TAKE: I like this way more than my Jenni Kayne Cocoon Cardi. I said it and I meant it.
