Day four of *25 Days of Christmas Cocktails brings us to another cocktail from one of my favorite books, Drinking French by David Lebovitz🎄✨ Today’s featured recipe is Vin Chaud - a delicious hot mulled wine with a French twist. Warm up with the rich flavors of red wine, spices, and a touch of honey. I added an orange rind for more citrus! This is perfect for hosting as you can make it ahead of time and guests can serve themselves! Cheers to the holidays! 🍷❄️*
Recipe:
- 1 bottle (75cl) fruity red wine
- 1 whole star anise
- 2 slices fresh ginger, (no need to peel)
- 3 green cardamom pods, gently crushed
- 3 whole cloves
- Generous pinch of freshly ground black pepper - peel of one orange
- 1/4 cup honey
- Optional: 1/4 cup cognac
Pour the wine into an unheated saucepan. Add the spices and honey, and bring to a simmer. Turn off the heat and let it stand for 15 minutes. Reheat the wine until warm and steamy, then turn off the heat. Add the cognac if using. Pour the wine into heat-resistant glasses and serve!
Enjoy the cozy flavors of Vin Chaud and embrace the holiday spirit! 🎅🌟
