Walmart, one of the Larkin Family’s favorite retailers, is having a huge sale leading up to the holiday season from October 8th to 13th! I noticed that there are a TON of heavily discounted home essentials, like steam mops, knife sets, cordless stick vacuums, Vitamix blenders, mattresses in a box, full-length mirrors, robot vacuum and mops, and WAY more.

Here's what the front entryway looks like. We recently bought this fabulous polyester Erin Gates rug for the front entrance to replace one that the previous owners left behind. (Yes, it took us five years to do that; what can we say? Ha!)

So happy with it. As Chicago gets a lot of crummy weather—especially in the winter—a tough entrance rug is so important unless we want the wood floors to get wrecked. This rug rarely shows dirt, and is super easy to clean. It's not supposed to be thrown in the washing machine, but I feel like it could totally withstand that on delicate if absolutely necessary?! It's a great rug, and I can't recommend it more for high-traffic areas.

Oh, and I should note that our walls are actually wallpapered, not painted! (It's kind of hard to tell in photos.) We used Annie Selke's classic grasscloth wallpaper in cream, though since that color is out of stock right now, I'm linking some other very similar options.

Our bookshelves our definitely full, but I love it's an organized fullness, if that makes sense. And for me, they make our living room feel full, not cluttered.

I went to middle and high school for four years in Princeton, New Jersey—and from time to time I'd go over friends' houses in town. Everything felt so colonial with creamy white wood everywhere, and bookshelves packed to the brim with old books and trinkets. I always loved the feeling I got from those houses, and I think Princeton has definitely inspired my own bookshelves, which feature a ton of @Wayfair gems! #wayfair #wayfairpartner

This is a little corner of our powder room, off the living and dining rooms. It's another cozy spot, and these very affordable @Wayfair sconces bring a lot of warmth to it. They really look like they cost SO much more than they do! We've had them for several years now and they've held up so well. #wayfair #wayfairpartner

I’m crazed over antique pine furniture. I cannot get enough of it, and I actually think that later in life, I would love to source, refinish and sell antique pine pieces! (#thisis40) This @wayfair one isn’t an antique, but it’s definitely “giving” (as the younger generation says) 1800s French country. I believe these @wayfair scalloped baskets are new! They actually come in a set of three, and I put the one you see above next to our front door so we can kick our shoes off into it when entering. We have the second in the playroom being used as a catchall, and the third in Lucy’s room also being used as a catchall because she’s the cutest little packrat I ever did see. ;) #wayfair #wayfairpartner

We ended our trip with decor. There was so much in stock, and I was thrilled to see all the seasonal products had arrived! This definitely got me in fall mode, to say the least. I picked up a pumpkin candle which smelled amazing, and Mitch accidentally smashed another small candle. Yes, that was live audio of the event, and we're sorry, @Wayfair. Perusing the @Wayfair art section was so much fun, especially when we stumbled upon all the Chicago pieces! Very special. How about that shot taken from our favorite bike path along the lakefront! My jaw was on the floor when we visited the @Wayfair bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms. So stunning. Do I need a green bathroom in my life? I think the answer is yes. I also finally found the perfect vanity for Lucy's bathroom while there, and can't wait to have functional storage space for her! Oh, and did you know that Wayfair offers custom cabinetry?! Just get a load of the dream kitchens we saw. This was really helpful to see because we've been considering getting a new dining table, as our current one is just too big and showing a LOT of signs of wear. Okay, so the store is amazing. First of all, there’s a @Wayfair CAFE. And you can wander the store with a coffee or even a glass of wine! Hello, Mom's Night Out anyone?! It was the morning so I did go for coffee, though. Then we set out to explore the Design Center, where you're greeted by Wayfair experts who will make all your living room and custom upholstery dreams come true. Look at how many fabric options! I finally got to sit on some Wayfair sofas that I've been eyeing, and let me tell you: I couldn't get over each couch's comfort, craftsmanship and price tag. The decor and attention to detail in each room was incredible, too. I found myself thinking, "Oh, this is very so-and-so!" and "Oh, this one's ME!" Really fantastic how the design team makes sure to feature varying personal styles—and how they show depth when mixing them together! I'm a sucker for traditional style, for example, but the rooms I truly love are traditional ones with modern and industrial touches. And Wayfair definitely gets that. #wayfair #wayday #wayfairpartner
