I hated this book. The story was okay, but Evangeline’s naïveté was so annoying. Like, get it together, sis. I wanted to stop reading, but I couldn’t because I needed to know who did it. Which brings me to my hate of whodunits. It’s not for me. I don’t like it in movies, and I definitely don’t like it in books now. I didn’t like how the story was written like a fairy tale, although I get why it was. It read a little too poetic with the whodunit aspect, which confused me sometimes. I did like Jacks, though, and I wish more were revealed about him in this book. I guess I’ll need to read the second and third books and the Caraval series to learn more. Ugh, I really don’t want to, but that ending is going to leave me reeling if I don’t satisfy it.
