The secret to well designed shelves is to keep them "clean."
Who is guilty of overloading your shelves with photos in your 1999 Kirkland's frames? If you haven't stepped up your shelf styling game in a few years, here are a few tips.
1. Use monochromatic books as risers to display frames or decorative accents. Style them horizontally and vertically.
2. Shop the HomeGoods check out aisle for small, potted plants and use those to add life and color.
3. Stick with a cohesive tone.. if you've got ornate gold frames, mixed with white washed beach frames paired with anything with words like "Dog mom," maybe pick one of those looks , maybe not the dog lover one. Perhaps display your well loved pooch in a gray wash frame with a white border.
4. Add a metallic accent... I use a dull brass.. nothing too sparkly or shiny... just something that adds a different finish.
5. Hide the clutter. Utilize woven baskets for remote controls, wires, and odds and ends.
I'll post my step by step by step tutorial in stories because Pinterest is apparently blowing this up right now ! http://liketk.it/3f0Qv liketkit @liketoknow.it LTKhome
