Feels fitting to finish reading this book on Mother’s Day. This is the first pregnancy book I’ve read & I’m so glad it was this one. Garbes explores pregnancy, fertility, post partum, and motherhood through a feminist and science/sociological lens. She balances anecdote with fact and has a very non judgmental tone through all topics. From c sections to breastfeeding which are topics that feel very judgey and holier than thou, she sees both sides with science to back it up. I feel more confident in my approach of “my plan is to see what happens and go with the flow” rather than having a strict idea of what birth and post partum looks like! Highly recommend to anyone pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant, or just interested in how these topics intersect with a modern feminist lens! pregnancy feminism books LTKbaby LTKbump LTKfamily
