Friends who have been here a while will know I have Invisalign, and while I’ve been so impressed with the results, it’s not easy keeping lipstick off my liners. 💋

For a while, I was forgoing any form of gloss and sticking to matte liner and lipstick combinations, but then I discovered this @tomfordbeauty lip blush to put on top of matte lipstick, and it works so well. It gives just a little moisture and shine without the potential to run the way a traditional gloss or lip oil might.

This is the outfit I wore to for a full travel day from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 to Lake Garda, Italy. 🇮🇹

I’m all about layers on a plane, want to be comfortable, like to have a little heel for better visibility going through lines and security, but have also learned from experience that I need to be ready to run. 🏃‍♀️✈️

I shot this reel after 4 hours of sleep when we were about to leave for an early flight. Don’t worry I slept on the plane and plan to get caught up on sleep tonight! 💤 But I share that as background because I need things to be extra cozy if I’m putting them on and getting ready to go super early. ☀️

Do you have go to travel outfits, too? I’ve figured out some options there work for me, but they definitely differ depending on whether it’s domestic or international and the nature of the trip.

We were just in Dublin for about 13 hours, but we made the best of it! 🍀🇮🇪

I got my hair done at @blow.salons’ Henry St location and then enjoyed one last small dinner with family at the @westburydublin’s Wilde restaurant before we all flew off in different directions. Jason and I stayed overnight at the @westburydublin, too.

We were looking for somewhere easy with healthy food, a decent gym, and relatively close to the airport. ✈️ I, regrettably, didn’t make it to the gym 🙃, but it’s still a spot I would highly recommend!

There’s been a lot is interest in how I go about finding a hair salon when traveling to a new city or country. I swear it’s not as tricky as you may think! I plan to share more on that soon! Especially when traveling to a place with different voltage, I find getting my hair done professional such a level up! 🙌🏻

Now we’re off to Italy! 🇮🇹

I’m not saying it’s necessarily “bad manners” to order a cappuccino after breakfast if you are at a restaurant and paying for yourself...

But you may turn some heads 😳, and it’s not something I would recommend asking for if you are dining as a guest at an Italian home. 🏡

First, let’s chat about how the coffee culture and customs in Italy differ…

⏱️ Unlike many Americans, Italians don’t drink any coffee any time they please.
🍳 Cappuccinos are served in the morning and with breakfast.
🌤️ Machhiatos are enjoyed mid-afternoon.
🌙 Meanwhile, espressos are served after dinner.
🏃‍♀️ And the ubiquitous American practice of coffee on the go… that’s not really a thing in Italy. Counter and table service is more common.
☕️ Rather than a pub style establishment, a “bar” is an Italian café where coffee is served.
📖 Don’t be surprised if a bar doesn’t have a menu. Memorizing your favorite Italian coffee is a solid plan!

Now to the terminology...

Caffé or caffé normale is simply an espresso, served black and in one shot increments. Instead of ordering a double, Italians order a second caffé for an extra kick of caffeine.

A cappuccino is a classic Italian espresso. It is served before or during breakfast, but not after a meal like lunch or dinner.

A caffé macchiato is a slightly milkier version of a simple caffe. Featuring a splash of frothy milk, unlike espresso drinks, it can be enjoyed all day long.

A caffé Americano is espresso diluted with hot water and is most similar to an American style drip coffee.

A caffé lungo, which means “long coffee” in English is an espresso with a splash of hot water.

Lastly, don’t order a latte unless what you want is a glass of milk.

I share this as someone who is typically fine ordering steak prepared as the chef desires, but I always feel for anyone who orders well done or medium well when others give them a hard time. 😔

Like so many things in dining etiquette, it’s best not to mention what others are eating and instead chat about something else.

Speaking of steak, this was the traditional Florentine T-bone from @bucamariofirenze in Florence. If a restaurant filled with tourists is not your cup of tea, than this spot likely won’t be your favorite, but it was an experience for sure! 🇮🇹

It’s been such a sweet weekend celebrating love with Alana and Ryan! 💫🤍

It’s reminded me of one of my favorite lessons the bride taught me years ago. Alana and I are cousins and about the same age, but she graduated from law school a few years before me. I turned to her for advice and encouragement early and often, including when I was very anxious about the LSAT, and I distinctly remember her telling me that I could let applying to law school, being a law student, or being an attorney take over my life at that moment or at any moment in the future. She gave the perspective I needed that choosing not to freak out was something I would have many opportunities to practice going forward.

It’s advice that continues to ring true for me today, and I wanted to share in case it might resonated with you, too. 🤗

I could go on and on about @alanajoyyce’s accomplishments over the years as an attorney 👩‍💼, dancer 🩰, marathoner 🏃‍♀️, musician 🎶, chef 🍝, cat lover 🐈, and overall enthusiast for all things that bring more zest to life 🍋, but most of all I admire how she shows up for and supports the ones the loves, and I couldn’t be happier that she found such an incredible partner to build a beautiful life with.
