No longer runnin’ from who I’m becoming. Can we take a second to call out society’s hypocritical expectations of women. When I was a teen, I was constantly told to not be so “loud” “rough” “masculine” - mostly because “men/boys don’t like girls like that. When I was a young Mom I was expected to manage all the caregiving. Have grace with my partner “he’s got to grow into this” - I was 24 and was expected to be a master of motherhood? With my first child? In my 30’s it felt like society expected me to “compete” with 20 year olds. Stay young, look “hot”, be relevant. But be a good wife and Mom so not too hot and too young looking. In my 40s there was pressure to “have it all together”. The perfect house, the lawn, the cars, the plans - oh my gosh the plans. Never be unorganized, messy, or “irresponsible”. Heading into my 5th decade I call BULLSHIT. Be loud. Be wild. Take up space. Be spontaneous. Unapologetically call out the unrealistic bullshit. ootd plussizefashion psootd plussizestyle size16 size18 styleover40
