Yes these examples are extremely exaggerated but the point here is that dieting fails the vast majority of people. But where does the blame go? Usually to the dieter, but it should go to our entire diet industry. Here’s what the diet cycle usually looks like: Desire to lose weight ➡️ goes on diet ➡️ follows diet rules ➡️ starts to experience cravings ➡️ loss of control eating & overeating ➡️ weight regain ➡️ desire to lose weight and repeat of the cycle. ☝️can you relate? Your lived experience is SO valuable with dieting because it can show you how it has impacted you LONGTERM. For the clients who work with us, the cost of dieting became too much and that’s one reason why they decided to stop dieting & heal their relationships with food in group coaching.❤️ If you’re anything like the clients we work with, you may have this fear: if I stop dieting, won’t I want allllll the foods? This fear is SO normal, especially because diets make us believe that we need rules telling us what, when, and how much to eat, and that we can’t trust ourselves around food. But remember the diet cycle I talked about earlier? Loss of control eating often happens as a RESULT of dieting. So if you want to stop feeling out of control with food, you have to stop dieting. It begins with rejecting dieting.
