JOY in Self Care😃 If you have been here a minute, you know that I ABSOLUTELY Love a trip to the hair salon! The transformation for me is always palpable. Truthfully, when I walked in, I was frazzled. But, just the process of focusing on what I was there for and spending time with my stylist who has supported me for decades (even did my hair for my wedding 25 years ago) is such a blessing. In a world that is so fast moving and everything is so disposable, I am consistently reenergized when i connect with the familiar. So, for me, this monthly appointment to get my hair refreshed by a professional I trust SO much and has been a constant through many life moments, this is not a luxury, it is a necessary moment of self care. There have been two periods in my life where I didn't see @tobiasjmitchell monthly simply due to neccessity while I lived in Los Angeles, the first was probably for about a year before I had my gastric bypass and I was at my heighest weight, I could no longer fit into the chair in the commercial salon he managed. I was beside myself but luckily a friend at work had a stylist who owned her salon and had a regular sturdy chair without arms that she agreed to set out for me during that time. Her salon team was always welcoming and without a fuss moved the chair from the station to the sink and back to the station. The reality is that people are infused with goodness and you will be directed to the angels that are needed when the time comes. The second was during the pandemic for about 2 yrs and that was just brutal for so many reasons. I can assure you I was not full of joy or dancing around after my attempts at the refreshes...lol Have you ever had to make a drastic change to accomodate your needs? Ever not fit into a chair?
