the last few years i've categorized as my 'midlife reset'. i was calling it a midlife crisis but that never felt right. it was more of an internal reevaluation of every aspect of my life, including my wardrobe which i did a major edit of.
i was able to clear out a lot as i stopped working 5-7 days a week, which was killing me physically + mentally. i let go of the filler clothes i had to wear to work and still look nice but not so nice it was ok that they got worn and even damaged. my nicer things i've had for so long that a lot of that had to go as well. clothes get worn out and the way you see yourself in things changes over time.
after clearing out (half? more?) of my wardrobe, i felt uninspired. i used to dress really nice and slowly over the years got into a rut. after shopping and shopping with no luck, i began asking myself 'when did i love my wardrobe? when did i feel my best? and why?'
i used to dress a bit softer, more feminine, and i wore a lot of neutrals. it's only been the past 10 years that i moved to a nearly all black wardrobe, and i do still love black but i have enough if it!
evolving doesn't always mean creating something new, it can often be about getting back to when you felt the most yourself.
here are a few of my new pieces i'm loving.
