This is how I layer skincare at NIGHT, MWF.
There are many opinions on how to layer skincare. You’ll find that even estheticians and derms don’t all agree! I say that if something is working for you, keep going!
This regimen is for any age or commitment level and can be done daily. See below or annamaegroves.com for a simplified and advanced version!
For beginners/simplicity
1. CLEANSER. (or double cleanse for makeup removal and better product absorption- first using an oil based cleanser, then a foaming or gel cleanser.
2. RETINOL. Choose your favorite - start slow if it’s your first time- a couple nights a week then work up to nightly if desired. You’re never too young or old for retinol. Helps breakouts, texture, evening skin, wrinkles, fine lines, collagen & elastin.
3. MOISTURIZER. Hydrate skin to protect the skin’s barrier.
4. LIP BALM
Advanced:
1. CLEANSE (Double cleanse if desired see above) Toner if you’d like!
2. SERUM. *Optional. Choose one that gives benefits that retinol does not like Niacinamide or peptides.
3. RETINOL. See above.
4. HYALURONIC ACID. *optional. Use after retinol, or before to “sandwich” it for less irritation/hydration
5. OIL. *optional. gives an extra shot of moisture if needed. Believe it or not, even oily skin can use certain oils to balance oil production.
6. EYE CREAM. *optional. Can add benefits like tightening, extra hydration, or circulation/brightening benefits. I usually just use what I do on my face.
7. MOISTURIZER. Seal everything in!
8. LIP BALM
Sourced everything in stories or link in bio! Oh and the wrist bands keep dirty water from rolling down to your elbows and all over the counter!
