Nora's Meatballs has been our home's annual Christmas Eve tradition for over 20 years. While the boys opened their Christmas pajamas before bed, Nora jumped onto the kitchen table and cleaned all our leftover plates. We caught her red-pawed and unapologetically red-faced. She was known as a "Houndini" in escapism and Naughty Nora for her mischief. We loved her incredibly sweet spirit and would not have wanted it any other way. I only wish she were here to enjoy it one last time.

Letting go can hurt us deeply; however, these feelings teach us the most about ourselves and what we want in our lives. There doesn't always have to be two sides to every story. Sometimes, there is only one – yours. Know your story and make yourself the hero of it by accepting nothing less than what you deserve.

What I have learned, and maybe this helps because there was another wife between us, is that David’s first wife and I have one very important thing in common. We love the family. It's not my story. It’s our story, and there are a lot of chapters still left to write. Just because you loved the same person at different times is no reason to be jealous or resentful. Your goal is the same. To love all the players in it.
I may be the third wife, but if David and I make each other our first priority, I’m guaranteed to be the last. He is my everything.

You can’t change life from happening. The only real power in this world we have is to choose our response to it. This gives you the grace and time to heal. I stopped asking God why me a long time ago. God doesn’t make mistakes. Without the relationship I have with depression, I don’t know that I would be the type of compassionate person I am. And I understand that on the days that I look in the mirror and don’t recognize myself, I know that the screenplay of my life still needs to be written, and perhaps even deserves a sequel.

Women do not come with an expiration date and neither does our sexual well-being. Just because we age, we will not be forced into hiding. Stop telling us we are too old to be sexy or anything else less than WHAT we are. There is no unwritten law to censure us or keep us from being WHO we are. We are women, and we are ageless in what we are capable of. Sexiness exudes from acceptance of one’s self, and isn’t that the ultimate definition of sexy? Remember age is just a number; feeling good about yourself, however old you are, is priceless. As for me, I’m with a man 16 years my senior who thinks I’m totally hot. He also tells people he married the babysitter, and you know what? I’m perfectly fine with that.
