Whenever I was feeling sick my grandmother would scramble me an egg, toast a slice of bread and serve up a small cup of applesauce on a tray. She swore hydration, rest and good plain food would get me back to feeling better. Most of the time, it did. If I wasn’t feeling too bad we’d eat it on the back porch and she would tell me about the birds that were in the yard. Or talk to me about the flowers that were coming up. There were hydrangeas and camellias. Giant red geraniums. Snapdragons and lantana. I’m sure there were plenty of times that she told me what flowers were out there, but for whatever reason I remember it most when we’d sit there in the quiet mornings eating breakfast on the porch. Oddly, this makes me grateful for not feeling well those few times. It slowed down life and I was able to listen. Did your grandmother teach you about flowers or something else? I’d love to know what you learned from her! Comment your favorite flower below and I’ll send you links to tonight’s looks! LTKFind LTKSale LTKSeasonal
