I love to decorate a tree! And I love a live tree! We grab one at Lowe’s every year before Thanksgiving. The smell is so good! I start with 4-5” ribbon in a continuous piece. I tuck it into holes in the tree. Placement won’t be as important with a faux tree as you can bend the branches to fill in a hole. For this tree, I wanted a very traditional style so I didn’t use more ribbon. In years past, I have added additional ribbon and swag garland at this step. I will be decorating a 15’ flocked live tree next and will be using ALL the things!! Next I add picks from the floral section. I prefer picks from the floral section over the Christmas section. My tree topper is made of picks so I start with it and use the remainder throughout the tree, also being mindful to place in areas where the branches may be sparse. I like my tree dripping with ornaments. I add all of each kind of ornament as a group before moving onto the next style so I can focus on evenly spacing each type. I use all shatterproof ornaments. They are great with kids and pets but live trees fall a lot and ornaments can fall with it. This tree is our family tree so the kids finished the tree with all of their craft ornaments from over the years and sentimental ornaments we have collected. Stay tuned for our grand 15’ tree!!
