This portable Dreamegg white noise machine is just perfect. It’s small, it clips onto things, and it’s got a soft little nightlight. Dreamegg also has several other highly rated sound machines (which I’ve also linked). The Hatch I’ve heard amazinggg things about but it’s not as portable and it’s a little pricier.
