My electrical box is off center to the vanity and medicine cabinet, and my brain simply cannot accept that. I’ll do a lot of home DIYs, but real electrical work (more than just putting in a fixture) is not something I recommend doing in your own. If something is done incorrectly, it can cause serious problems. Using a light fixture with a back plate allowed me to offset the fixture so that it is centered to the mirror.
