They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and it’s also true for games. Inside it’s underwhelming box, Tower Up was hiding an absolute gem of a family game. It shares many similarities with Ticket to Ride while being entirely unique from it, too! You’re working to build up buildings in various districts on the board. Each time you build a new building, you must contribute to the buildings it connects to. This requires you to plan your moves carefully and gather the supplies you need to be successful. Just don’t wait too long to make your move because prime spots get snatched up quick! I love that the turns are simple; you can either gather resources or build, the strategy is layered with highly tactical moves to make, and the game plays snappy with quick turns that allows it to keep a great pace. It’s the exact recipe a game needs in order for it to become a classic and I can see our family enjoying this one for a looooong time.
