From pink gossip benches to hanging composities, designing a home for sometimes hundereds of college women is no joke. Scroll for some of the biggest lessons I've learned on what makes a #sororityhouse a home.

1️⃣ Function. Creating space optimization and providing the women with an home that meets their needs is a must. We have to carefully consider how each area interacts with one another and how it will ultimately function best for multiple events.
2️⃣ Durability. When you have 100 - 400 women using a sapce, you must consider the lifespan of products, materials and finishes. Durable furniture may have higher upfront costs, but it will be worth the long term aesthetics and functionality.
3️⃣ Scale: Large spaces are a challenge to design for, especially when they are in a busy sorority house. Creating a space where the rug, upholstery and accent tables work together in harmony sets the tone.

DESIGN TIP
-Start with neutral linens if you want a to keep things classic, this will allow you to easily layer in holiday accents and florals for the main accents.
- Incorporate dinnerware that can be mixed an match for multiple seasons. If you want to keep things simple, add a charger that accents your flatware or napkins to tie it all together.
-If you are open to embracing untradtional colors and patterns for the holidays, make sure to have a balanced mix of organic and geometric patterns. Florals, stripes and dots are great go-to patterns for a festive holiday feel.

Here are my 3️⃣ tried-and-true ways to bring your outdoor space to life this hosting season:

With a few small updates and additions, you can create an inviting outdoor space to enjoy while hosting this season.

1. Create a seating arrangement that allows guest to gather and socialize and incorporate throw pillows and cozy blankets for cooler evenings for a cozy feel.

2. Update your lighting. String lighting and outdoor lamps will allow you transition from afternoon to evening without having to leave the space.

3. Layer plants into your arrangement. Plants are a great way to add color and texture and mixing in planters that work with your aesthetic will act as outdoor accessories.

Of course you need the basics like a great desk or table and plenty of functional storage, but why not go all out with design detail that make it a place you enjoy spending time in?

A bold home = an inviting space that makes an impression.

DESIGN TIP
The lliving room is the heart of this home and needed to feel grounded since it is part of an open floor plan. The larger pieces of furniture ground the space while smaller pieces were used to add texture, pattern and pops of color.

We wanted the furniture arrangement to feel cozy for hanging out, but knew we wanted to add our client's love for glam accents. Layering elements like Monngolian Fur pillows, a soft throw blanket and plenty of colorful accessoires were key to creating a welcoming space while still making a bold statement.

Add eye catching art that not only serves as the room's focal point, but can grab your attention from connecting rooms.
-Make a statement with a bold paint color on your built-ins or kitchen cabinets. Extra points for incorporating a high gloss finish!
