What if I told you these lamp shades were made out of vintage linen napkins? I used them to cover the pendant lights in my kitchen. If you want to try yourself, here are some linens that would make beautiful shades!

No skill necessary, $10 colorful lampshade DIY. All you need is embroidery thread in the colors of your choosing and a lampshade. This is a perfect way to upcycle a cheap thrifted lampshade, and I love how it can be customized to suit any style.

I’m linking all of the thread colors I used to create mine (there are a lot of shades to choose from so get these exact ones if you want to create the same look). I needed a total of 9 (across 5 colors) for a small lampshade (7” on the bottom, 4” at the top, height of 6”). I already had a hot glue gun, but if you don’t have one, you’ll need that too, and I promise you’ll find other uses for it.

Here’s everything you need to create these scalloped shelves! It’s such an easy DIY, and I love the playful custom detail and pop of color it’s added to my son’s nursery.

Here’s everything you need to DIY this framed botanical art.

I used custom mats to create a smaller opening in this red Michael’s frame (I also added a red accent color for extra flair). I ordered them on Mattboardandmore.com. You can completely customize the size and colors of the board and it’s not very expensive at all (like $8 per mat and free shipping if I remember correctly).

I used good ol Elmer’s glue to affix the pressed flowers to white paper with a heavier stock cut down to fit within the frame (I used paper from a sketch pad). Elmer’s clear glue is very forgiving— you can adjust the positioning and the glue doesn’t show when dry.

Then I just put all the pieces together. It’s that easy. And to my eyes anyway, it looks pretty professional.
