Today has been a surreal and heartbreaking day. The destruction and fatalities from the fires is truly unfathomable. It’s been so hard to focus on anything else. All the stories are devastating. Some of our dear friends and their family members have lost their homes—everything gone, every memory wiped away. While I’m so grateful they are safe, the weight of starting over is unimaginable. Makes me so sad. This is not easy for anyone. So many people are affected in so many different ways. The loss, the shock, and the grief is real and overwhelming. My heart aches for everyone. My deepest respect and gratitude to the brave firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and emergency personnel working around the clock and to the selfless individuals helping people and helpless animals evacuate.
