Baby gates! At the bottom of the stairs we used a retractable punchless gate between two painted wood casings (to avoid damaging walls). At the top of the stairs we went for a more traditional gate for peace of mind. The flat bottom option is only good for up to 31” so we sized up as our opening is 36”. LTKkids LTKbaby LTKhome
