Here's the foot update you didn't ask for. Today marks 6 weeks since I had Lapiplasty (bunion surgery) on my left foot. Which means, I'm finally out of my boot! Hallelujah! Last night, I set out to try new shoes to accommodate my new foot situation. My foot/ankle are still a little swollen for the time being, especially since I am on my feet a lot more now, so went up a half size. I normally wear a 7, but went to a 7.5 trying the shoes on. I tried Hokas, On Cloud, and Brooks. Here's what I found; I really like the way On Cloud shoes look, but for me, right now, they were not comfortable and very narrow. I even tried on a 7.5 wide and they felt really tight, so that was disappointing. The Hokas felt good, and I didn't have to get a wide, but I wanted a neutral color and they didn't have any in the store. Then I tried on the Brooks Glycerin 20.
They felt the very best and I liked the way the looked. I want the most comfort, but I don't actually want to look a hundred years old either.
The Brooks Glycerin already have a wide toe box, so I got a regular 7.5. It feels weird walking in regular shoes today, but I'm doing okay. So far, I am happy with my decision! Keeping the Advil/Tylenol and ice pack close by!
