Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you @prhaudio and netgalley for my gifted copy! Bethany's Review: What happens when your soulmate, your best friend from youth, dies and you have to go on with life? I absolutely love the choice of the narrator in the audiobook. I half listened to it and half read it. I loved both versions. The writing is fantastic, it drew me in from the first word, and I love all of the characters. If you get a chance to listen to the audiobook, do it. You won’t regret it. Lenny's character is amazing. She is quirky, honest and radiant. I loved the slow-burn romance between Lenny and Miles and that while it was there, it wasn’t the entire focus of the story. I smiled, laughed and cried along with the characters. I loved Bastone’s first novel, and this one is even better. A heartbreaking and feel-good story at the same time about grief, love and finding your way back. This is my favorite read of 2025 so far! Sara's Review: This book was the definition of happiness. I actually found myself smiling while reading and listening to it. I loved the characters, their banter, their chemistry and their stories. This story was about grief, love, growth and those that support you. This book felt real, the characters were incredibly well developed, flawed, funny, and kind. The romance was a slow burn, but not in an annoying way, but a perfectly well developed and fun to read way. I felt a large range of emotions while reading this and honestly would love to see this made into a movie. It was just perfection. The two main characters support one another to get over grief and heartbreak, which slowly turns into a friendship and then love. A well paced, incredibly well written story.
