OATMEAL CARD DROP! ♣️♦️ The simplest things in life tend to be the most fun and this card drop activity is no exception. Simply cut out two slots in the top of an old oatmeal container with a precision knife, outline the slots with red and black permanent marker, and model sorting the playing cards by color with your child. Your overall involvement depends completely on your child’s age/ability. Mo (18mo) needs my constant support as we are just starting to identify colors. Roo (3.5yo) is completely independent with this activity and it serves more as something to just keep her busy (which is important too!) The sweet spot age for this activity would be right in the middle around 24 months. However, you can adjust it for younger children easily by cutting out one slot, not outlining it with any color, and simply focusing on dropping the card into the container, which is a huge skill in itself! 👏🏼
