I mean if I’m already dressing up for work why not share what I’m really wearing💁🏻‍♀️ Over the years, I have found that a lot of people get confused when it comes to work place dress code. This will vary based on the job you have so it’s always best to check with your HR department on what is allowed; however, today I’m sharing the more mainstream definitions of workplace dress code. The 4 main dress codes are: casual, smart casual, business casual, and business professional. Casual will allow for a more relaxed style. Jeans in any wash will typically be allowed and you can wear a t-shirt, sweatshirt, cardigan, sweater, sneakers, or sandals. Smart Casual will be a blend of more casual items mentioned before mixed with some more elevated pieces. For instance, jeans will need to be a darker wash if allowed. You may be able to wear sneakers. A more elevated shoe like a loafer works perfectly with this style. You could also wear a dress shirt, blazer, or cardigan with your jeans. Business Casual is the most confusing of all. This is what my work place allows and typically includes dress pants, dress shirts, cardigans, blazers, dresses, and some form of a closed toe shoe (loafer, flat, heel). Jeans will not be allowed. Business Professional will be more formal and include suit sets and structured work dresses paired with blazers. Shoes can be similar to business casual shoes but heels will likely be more of the norm with this dress code. Typically colors are more neutral in tone.
