Family photos don’t have to be stressful (well, the planning part, at least!)! The only outfit I planned for this session was my dress. I didn’t try on the dress Amelia had from last holiday season that I thought would work until it was too late & same with trying on pants for Joseph… by then I didn’t have time to get anything new so we worked with what we had! Joe picked his outfit 5 minutes before we left. I took the pressure off of myself for having perfect coordinating outfits & they still turned out great! Tip: try to stick with one print & choose colors that at least work together!

We got our family photos back today & I cannot get over them! The kids were wild this day, Joseph had just gotten carsick, & I swore we didn’t get a single good picture… I’m happy to report that I was wrong!

Family Photos 2023 ❤️🍁😊 I love how these colors came together for these photos! Here’s a few tips if you’re planning your next family photo shoot, too! 1. Pick your standout piece (or color palette) & work around that- I picked my dress first! 2. Add texture- I picked Amelia’s dress second (it was actually her Christmas dress from last year & I love the unexpected feel the tulle gives to our otherwise rustic setting. Mixing textures for photos always comes out beautifully! 3. Try to stick to 1 print or pattern (unless the second print is a subtle one!). 4. Don’t be afraid to wear color! You don’t have to wear only neutrals to get great photos! The key is to coordinate your outfits, not match them!

We recently had these photos done on our favorite beach by @stephlynnphotography & I’m so happy with how they turned out! I honestly didn’t think we were going to get any good ones- Amelia ran away for the first 10 minutes of the photoshoot & both kids were so wild 😜 We got a few really good ones, though, and I think this one is my favorite 💕 I’m definitely a sucker for a good color coordinated photo but I don’t love to match- I suggest choosing one color or a favorite piece & building around that. I started with my @sundryclothing dress & went with a fall-ish color scheme because it felt unexpected & fresh on the beach. It also felt more timeless & looked incredible with the sunset!

I love coming up with coordinating (not matching!) outfits for family photos! In this case, I had planned something totally different but nothing I ordered showed up on time so I worked with what we had & love how it turned out! I love a floral dress for fall! We recently had some photos done & I swear in almost every photo one of my kids is making a face or moving around 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also, candid photos are typically my favorite but I’ve found that the older they get the tougher it is to get a “good” candid of all of us that isn’t cheesy 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyone else?! We got some photos done over the weekend (I took this one) & I’m excited to see how they turned out! I ordered outfits for all of us & literally nothing came in so most of what they’re wearing is from last year 🙈 but it worked! Also, these Hunter rain boots are one of my favorite things I buy for my kids. Amelia’s first pair was a gift for her 1st birthday & since then I’ve bought a new pair each year in a neutral (we have red, green, & yellow but there’s also a navy!) so Joseph can wear them after Amelia.
