Every home we’ve lived in I’ve ripped out the standard shelf and rod closet and opted to design my own. This custom closet is totally from IKEA — on the last photo I included our specs. We added so much room for clothes storage, added a clothes rod on the left and then slim shoe storage on the other side. Designing a custom closet on a budget is much easier than you realize! I’m so proud of this bedroom design 🩵🤍

It’s the perfect mix of French and feminine for a bedroom… it’s our guest room but if you need design / renovation ideas for a teen girl bedroom, I got you! The bench seat is one of my favorite features, and it doubles as storage for our games for game night.

The bedding I’m also obsessed with. The pillows are so comfy, and the bed is so soft you just sink into it...

If you’re looking to make a big impact — a fireplace surround and mantle update / renovation is a must 😬

Our fireplace was originally short and stubby. We extended the wall to the ceiling, then removed the original tile and replaced with our current mantle and fireplace surround. Normally this fireplace would be concrete, but I realized we could instead build it using wood and then spray it using a satin paint finish 🤍🦢

That time I built a custom pantry from the ground up ❤️

The secret to a custom pantry, whether you build it yourself or hire a contractor, is to sketch out our ideal layout, keeping in mind what you need to store and access.

For us, we needed some storage for our smaller appliances, but I also stored our cookie sheets, larger platters, etc. All of my favorite tools and pantry organization are linked below :)

DIY popcorn ceiling removal —

In our first home we removed ALL of the popcorn ceilings ourselves. Sadly the ceilings didn’t have mudding done when the house was built, but removing popcorn ceilings is actually super easy!

First, make sure you double check the year your home was built and do a test patch to make sure there’s no asbestos. All you need is warm water and a putty knife for the removal… use the below container to drench/spray a section with warm water. Leave it for 30 seconds and then use a flat putty knife to scrape the popcorn ceiling. It should come off in full sheets (no dust). Sand the ceiling of any imperfections as you go, and that’s it!

My husband is a family pastor, and one of the things we love buying for our friends’ little ones are Christian board books. These ones linked we’ve purchased many times — one set has little board books with different stories about Jesus and His life, and the other set has stories from the Bible. Ok but I needed to test these heatless curls for myself… so I have two feelings overall about this:

- firstly, they do work. I’m not a huge fan sleeping in it, but it’s not that different from putting your hair up another way at night
- second, my preferred way to use them (slightly different from how they’re advertised) is to take a morning shower, wait for it to be 70% dry and then put my hair in it 🎀

#NoMakeup 🖤 I used to suffer from cystic acne and hormonal acne, and I’ve struggled with psoriasis… I had oily skin and combination skin, so I was really sensitive to a lot of products. These are by far the most effective and helpful skincare products I use with minimal ingredients that deliver deep hydration and are primarily fragrance free and clean.

My hair care routine is basically down to a science at this point 🖤

These are some of the beauty and hair care products that I genuinely can’t live without… that hair towel is just PERFECTION. Obsession doesn’t even cover it. My hair stylist also has me using Redken’s All Soft and then a special deep conditioning hair mask every week. In between showers I use primarily my powder dry shampoos (to avoid cancer causing ingredients).

My hair is so healthy and happy!

Our homemade vanilla extract is a little over halfway done! 🎉 Making your own vanilla extract is actually a lot easier than you would think — and MUCH cheaper with inflation taking off.

I’ve linked my favorite products that we use, but if you want to make your own vanilla extract, here’s some tips we have picked up:

- Get really good vanilla beans! The quality matters in the vanilla beans, not the alcohol
- Keep it in a cool dark place and “turn it” (so flip it 360 degrees) every week, or every other to help it infuse even more
- Give it at least 5 months, but up to a year is even better
