Shit I bought on instagram (part 2) …
Salt & Stone’s award-winning deodorant, body mist & body wash in Santal & Vetiver scent.

I was on the hunt for a great aluminium-free natural deodorant that smelled nice and I had tried almost everything on the market but I either wasn’t crazy about the scent or the residue, until I discovered Salt & Stone.

It’s sort of like Aesop and le Labo had a baby and made it less expensive but it still has all natural, high quality ingredients in it (spirulina, kelp and seaweed). The fragrance is subtle but elegant, I like that it isn’t over powering and the products can be used together and layered without an intoxicating effect.

The body wash lathers really nicely and leaves a subtle scent behind, it’s great layered with the hand cream and body mist. The deodorant lasts all day and I can still smell it working even after hot sweaty humid Floridian summer days!!

I like masculine musky fragrances just FYI so if you’re not into that then try one of the other 2 equally popular scents: the Bergamot & Hinoki or the Black Rose & Oud.

Shit I bought on instagram (part 1)…

Like you, I find myself buying the most ridiculous stuff from instagram lately so I thought I would start a regular feature where I post my honest review of products I recently bought (that are probably also in your cart) to help you decide whether you should bother or not.

This week I test out the ‘award winning’ multi action skincare mask from Hanacure. I bought the pack of 4 at $110 so around $30 per treatment. The treatment promises ‘age defying effects’ and uses co2 ‘Octo-lift’ technology to lift, tighten, brighten and restore skin.

I walk you through the process in these videos but it’s really simple, you mix the gel pack w/ the liquid ampule provided, brush the clear treatment all over your face, chest & back of hands & wait 20 minutes.

About 8 minutes in the magic begins… the mask starts to dry out and pull your face upwards in a tightening action. I have sensitive skin with past Sun damage and it did not burn or sting on me at all. When the 20 minutes are up you are quite happy to wash the mask off (comes off easily with warm water) and reveals fresh SOFT and brighter ‘baby skin’. I definitely saw an improvement in the melasma (uneven pigmentation) on my cheeks from my 2 pregnancies, which is why I bought the mask. I can imagine with regular weekly or Bi-weekly use this will improve even more over time so I will definitely use it again.

In short it’s a great mask to use if you have a big event or date night coming up, you can use it right before you put on makeup and is shouldn’t leave your skin red. I did have a few spots the next day (it says that is brings out impurities) and a bit of red flakiness around the nose but apart from that I’m quite happy with the results.

To soothe my skin after the mask I used Mario Badescu’s lavender face spray and my favorite products from Oak Essentials (another instagram find!) the Ritual oil and their best seller, the Moisture Balm.

Finish it off with Elta MD tinted sun cream for the face. I am extra vigilant with sun cream after doing these kinds of treatment masks.

Some hair styling tips for wavy & unruly hair in a humid climate…

Since I moved to Florida I have been battling with my hair on a daily basis. I cut it short thinking that would make my routine a bit easier but it’s actually made it harder to style. These are some of my favorite products that combat humidity, and make my blow out last a bit longer.

I start my routine with Color WOW ‘dreamcoat’ spray which is meant to help smooth out frizz. You section the hair and spray liberally and then blow dry each section. The spray is activated by heat and lasts for 2-3 shampoos (like a mini Brazilian blow out).

I then spray on some root lift spray by La based stylist Roz and use my new L’brise air styler to rough dry and then section dry my hair. This is truly a miracle hair tool for me, I am terrible at doing my own hair and this makes me look like I’ve come straight out of a salon and the volume and shine last for several days. It has saved me a lot of money on salon blow dries since purchasing it!

Once my hair is dry I use my favorite hair oil from Roz hair Santa Lucia styling oil to smooth, protect and add shine. It also smells incredible. This is a genie in a bottle product and can be used on wet or dry hair. I discovered it after watching countless videos of Carrie Mulligan and Emma Stone having their hair done by celebrity stylist Roz for the Oscars.

Finally I set my hair with the anti-humidity spray from Oribe, another great product that helps protect the hair from humidity and reduces frizz.

To be clear I do this once a week if I’m lucky, not every day!! I usually spend my Saturday or Sunday morning when I have more time ! During the week days it’s usually hair up and dry hair spray (the fairy dust spray from Dae is my new fav leave in product To prolong your blow dry for days!)
